Monday Faces: All Things Australia

Happy Australia Day! I usually post on Monday evenings but I'll make an exception this morning. The weather is so nice and cool that sleeping in is not an option. No shrimp on the barbie but taking the opportunity to continue my quest to pick up a new language. I'm still at the alphabets stage so it's fun trying to put it all together.

Let's see... I've been calling Australia home for almost 9 years (It'll be exactly that long next month). It's where this young girl came out to this vast foreign land on her own to study. Fell in love with the culture and also the place where she had to grow up real fast. The people who have been incredibly friendly and accepting that I'm happy to call them mates.

Most importantly, I fulfilled my wish to surf in my first year here. I miss surfing so much but I haven't had the chance to head down to the beach. I love being in the water so it's a bit sad. Will avoid the specifics why I have been so preoccupied.

Other than that, enjoy the holiday if you're in Australia. If not, have a good day anyway!

Love using pencils on moleskine paper as it allows the tips to glide smoothly.

It's a little wonderland!

Photo: Andrew Moore

Yesterday's event went splendidly well especially with the beautiful weather making it all better. Here's some photos from the event. I apologise for the quality due to the light reflections on the glass. 'Little Wonderland' has been sold. The dolls are still held with the gallery as there are interest from other clients. Hope everyone who went enjoyed their day and till the next event!

Follow The White Rabbit

'Little Wonderland'
'Mister Rabbit, Alice Wen, Dinah' (Left to Right)
'Follow the White Rabbit' is the first exhibition of the year with my new painting 'Little Wonderland'. This is the first oil painting I've gotten attached to because I painted this little guy according to my old pet, Fievel. I think I managed to capture his personality and he's always hiding in boxes, sometimes falling asleep in them. I'm pretty sure if he had a cozy teapot, he'll be napping in there with a full belly.

The exhibition will be held tomorrow at Rymill Park. It's a one day event. It goes from 10am - 5pm and if you're all dressed up in costumes, you get in for free. Otherwise, it's a gold coin entrance fee. Hope you can come down and have some fun!

Monday Faces

I have a confession. This drawing did not go according to plan so I'll try it again next week. Don't worry, not the same drawing. Just the painting.

It's the first day back for art classes and it's always great to catch up with the ladies. Never knew so much can happen in four weeks but it was great to share. At the end of the class, I think all of us felt a little lighter.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Monday Faces

It's the first Monday of the year and time to get back to work! It was great having two weeks of holidays with my family that even my folks didn't want to go home. I'm not into making resolutions for the new year. I am just going to take more risks and work even harder. 2014 hasn't been a great year in most aspects so all the more I'm looking forward to fresh beginnings.

It's been a hot start to the new year as we're having bush fires here in SA. It's the worst in 30 years and I hope it'll die down soon. The hot weather is not helping at all so we just have to pray for favorable conditions to help fire fighters.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and here's the fresh beginnings!

:)
