Charcoal Practice

Bit of charcoal practice earlier in the week for art class. I haven't been updating as often as I've liked but soon I'll be able to show you what I've been up to.

Monday Faces

Model: Soo Joo Park
Pencils & Watercolours

So much to do in less than a month before I take my holiday break with the family. Also, hoping to squeeze in some beach time. For now, it's work time.

Have a good week!

Monday Faces

A quick sketch for today's Monday Face. Just toying around with ideas of late. Christmas is only next month and I still have some projects to finish up. It's a tight deadline but I'll be able to make it.

On a another note, my website is currently down. I just switched web hosting providers and there's still a couple more kinks to iron out. It should be back up this week.

My animal illustration fabrics is on its way! Will be putting them and some other prints in store just in time for some Christmas shopping. A christmas card series is also a part of it so keep an eye out!

Have a good week ahead!

Monday Faces

Last week was the race carnival season with the biggest being the Melbourne Cup. Usually we see the glamour sight of the Cup where everyone dresses up, watch the races and drinking bubbles. We don't hear and see the other side of these horse races. Two horses died on Melbourne Cup day. Horses are pushed to the limits with their training and when they get injured, they are shot. These horses do the best they can even when it comes to their breaking point. Even though race horsing has been around for ages, I wish people would be able to recognise 'enough is enough' for these creatures. They can't speak up to say they are in pain. As much as they are recognised for their abilities and skills, they are beautiful and magnificent creatures that don't deserve the harshness of the sport.

On the lighter side, I got to visit Pam Lean's studio this afternoon. She teaches and paints porcelain and fabric. I got to listen to her process and a bit of the history. She had tables out to display her and her students' works. Pam, herself, has done different styles that are all beautiful. Maybe one day, I'll get to try painting some imari porcelain painting myself.

Good news for those who love the pattern animal illustrations. The patterns are being printed on fabrics and it will take some time for them to get to me. I'm really excited and can't wait to see the final product. Will definitely put it on my etsy shop and drop an update when it's here.

Have a good week!

Monday Faces

Been working with watercolours for a while now and I've only started using masking fluid. Though the medium produces great results, it can be quite tricky due to its nature. It dries quickly and it's tougher to get it out of brushes. I am thinking of buying a couple of cheap brushes to use with the fluid. If anyone else has had experience with masking fluid, feel free to share. Would like to hear your experience. For now, it's just some practice and lots of vaseline for the brushes!

Hope everyone had a festive Halloween and have a good week!
